This policy covers what happens with your data when you use DateIdeas. We built this site to help couples plan better dates, not to harvest your personal info. That said, we do need some information to make the site work well for you.

1. What We Collect

Stuff You Give Us

• Account basics: Your name, email, and password when you sign up
• Preferences: Things like your city, budget range, and what kinds of dates you're into
• Reviews and feedback: If you rate a venue or send us a message, we keep that
• Payment info: When you book something, your card details go through Stripe (we don't store card numbers ourselves)

Stuff We Collect Automatically

• How you use the site: Which pages you visit, what you click on, how long you stick around
• Device info: Your IP address, browser type, and whether you're on mobile or desktop
• Location: We guess your general area from your IP. If you want location-based recommendations, we'll ask before using GPS
• Cookies: Small files that help us remember your preferences and keep you logged in

2. What We Do With Your Info

Making the Site Work

• Show you date ideas that actually match what you're looking for
• Remember your favorites and preferences so you don't have to re-enter them
• Process bookings and handle payments
• Let you leave reviews that help other couples

Keeping In Touch

• Answer your questions when you contact us
• Send you booking confirmations and important account updates
• Share our newsletter and promos (only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe anytime)

Legal Stuff

• Follow the law when we have to (court orders, legal requests, etc.)
• Stop fraud and keep the site safe
• Enforce our Terms of Service if someone's causing problems

3. Who Sees Your Data

Here's who might see some of your info:

• Our tech partners: Companies that help us run the site (hosting, analytics, payment processing). They only get what they need to do their job.
• Venues you book: When you make a reservation, the restaurant or venue gets your booking details so they can hold your table
• Law enforcement: If we get a valid legal request, we have to comply. This is rare, but it happens.
• A future buyer: If DateIdeas ever gets acquired, your data would transfer to the new owner. We'd let you know if that happens.

4. Your Rights

Everyone Gets These

• See what data we have on you
• Fix anything that's wrong
• Delete your account (and the data that goes with it)
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails
• Turn off cookies in your browser settings

If You're in California (CCPA)

• You can ask us exactly what data we have and how we use it
• You can tell us to delete it
• You can opt out of data sales (though again, we don't sell data)
• We won't treat you differently for using these rights

If You're in Europe (GDPR)

• You can access, correct, or delete your data
• You can ask us to stop processing it
• You can get a copy of your data in a portable format
• You can withdraw consent whenever you want

5. How We Keep Your Data Safe

We're not a security company, but we take this seriously:

• Your data is encrypted when it travels between your browser and our servers
• We use secure, reputable hosting (our database is on Supabase)
• Only team members who need access to do their jobs can see user data
• We don't store passwords in plain text

We keep your data as long as you have an account with us. Delete your account, and we'll delete your data (though some stuff might stick around in backups for a bit).
